Pastor Jeff & Sheryl Gorman
Have you heard the phrase: “They are attached at the hip?”
That pretty well describes Jeff and Sheryl Gorman. High school
sweethearts and married in 1976, they headed down the trail
with enough high hopes and dreams to last a lifetime. Although
there have been some rough trails to climb, deep rivers to cross,
and potential dream-stealing varmints along the way, they have
remained true to the vision that God placed in their hearts.
In 1995 the Spirit of the Lord showed Jeff and Sheryl a need
for a “new thing” in the Kittitas Valley. Both of
them having been raised in the western lifestyle of ranching
and farming, and knowing the Lord’s heart on the matter,
knew that this new thing that the Lord desired to do was for
the Lord’s harvest, a “Great Round-Up.” Thus,
the name, of the Great Round-Up Cowboy Church, which it was
originally called.
Pastor Jeff is a gifted preacher; he is a story-teller, animated,
humorous and directly “to-the-point” in a cowboy
kind of way. His messages are full of the Word of God giving
the listener strength and hope to keep building their lives
on the Rock. Pastor Jeff doesn’t know a stranger. His
warm smile and down-home personality make you feel right at
home in the church services.
Sheryl’s God-given gifts of writer, teacher and psalmist
dovetail with her husband in this “connected at the hip”
duo to work as help-mate and co-laborer in the various ministries
of GRCC.
So, what does the future hold? Sheryl explains it this way,
“When we are riding a new trail in the mountains, I am
attentive, but not worried because I am on my big, trustworthy,
Morgan mountain horse. Chico and I have ridden a lot of trails
together. I have always trusted his sure-footedness, his good
head, and his strength to get me in and out of wherever we go.
Because of our relationship and trust in each other, we become
one unit on the trail. Now, with the Lord, that is even truer.
With the Lord in my life, I don’t worry about what is
around the next bend in the trail. I know beyond a shadow of
a doubt that whatever I am facing, the Lord is with me. He is
my strength, my shield, my hope. My trust is in Him. He orders
the steps of a righteous man. So, whatever the Lord has for
us to do down the trail, we have the confidence that He will
order it, provide for it, and that what we do will be fruitful
in His harvest, this Great Round-Up.”
The Gormans have four wonderful children: David Lee, Gregory,
Gabrielle and Greta.
For recreation, Jeff and Sheryl enjoy heading up to the mountains
in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and riding the trails in
God’s big backyard.
